Washington Heights Baptist Church

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time is not always easy. Washington Heights is a place many refer to as "home" or "family"... we would love for you to feel the same.  Here are some things you might find helpful.

Worship  9 and 10:30a

There are two worship services to choose from: 9:00 am and 10:30 am. The Celebration Services at WHBC are developed directly from the Word of God and from the desire to inspire, instruct and encourage our church family in their walk of faith. Pastor Dave Kisner teaches from an uncompromising view of the Bible as the inspired, authoritative Word of God. The ministry of music gives us further opportunity to celebrate our faith and renew our commitment to its centrality in our lives. The celebration choir, praise team and the praise band help to create a God-centered atmosphere conducive to corporate worship.

On Sunday evenings you can choose between a traditional service at the church we call Praise Hymn, with singspiration style music and a preaching time, or Home Groups; small cross-generational gatherings meeting in the relaxed environment of homes. Contact the church office for more information on Home Groups currently meeting.

You can expect that the messages you hear from the pulpit will be relevant, effective and most importantlly, based on the absolute truth of God's Word.

ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship)  9 and 10:30a

These are what some churches refer to as Sunday School. We feel they are so much more. To find out what ABFs are all about, visit our ABF page. There are ABFs during both Sunday morning services, so if you find one you like, you'll still be able to attend a Celebration Service. ABFs are one of the most important ministries of our church as they are the primary method of connecting with people. Please feel free to visit any of the ABFs until you find one that is a perfect fit.

Children (JAM City)  9 and 10:30a

We love children at Washington Heights and have programs for kids of all ages that will provide care and encouragement. We provide nurseries for children from birth to preschool during our morning services.  Age appropriate programming for children (preschool to 6th grades) available during both worship services. All of our programming is centered on introducing children to Jesus Christ through solid and effective Bible teaching and activities.

The Children’s Area is NUT FREE – 24 | 7
This means there are no types of nut products permitted in the entire area during activities throughout the week or weekend.

Youth (New Heights Youth Group)

New Heights is for students in grades 7-12  which meets during the 10:30 am hour. The time includes worship and relevant teaching from the Word of God by godly adults who love to make the Bible come alive for students.

Dress

Washington Heights has a casual and relaxed atmosphere. You will find a variety of styles of dress on a Sunday morning...some will dress up, some will dress down. There are no expectations about what you should wear...whatever is comfortable for you is okay.

Join us this Sunday for worship – 9:00am and 10:30am
