Makes Me So Thankful that I Could Just…

A few years ago on WLW Radio out of Cincinnati there was a popular segment on the Gary Burbank Show that featured a fictional figure named Earl Pitts.  Burbank as Pitts would start every segment with the words “You know what makes me sick, you know makes me so angry I could………” He would complete the line with silly outrageous things that he would do because of his disdain over some other silly outrageous thing. I, as well as thousands of others, would laugh out loud at Earls rants. I actually have applied the opposite of Pittsology to my life. I like to wake each day with the question: “You know what makes me so happy, you know what makes so thankful that I could just……….”
Just to name a few. I am so happy for family, faith, health and all the obvious but I am also thankful for the gift of music. You might ask what kind of music do you listen to. Well the specifics of that question will come in a later blog but I love all kinds of well thought out, well constructed well-meaning music. But I don’t listen much because I just love making music. I love singing, I love playing and I love performing. There is something about realizing that you have been gifted with a craft and the production of the craft can be so self-fulfilling. Sounds a little egocentric but it is not really. Its’ like this beautiful expressive idea wells up within you and clamors to get out. Man, I am so thankful that God made me a trumpet player.
