Even In The Midst Of A Crisis

Last week was quite an experience for our family. Our son Nathan was in a bicycle accident that left him with 2 rods and several wire straps supporting his right femur. The X-rays are really messy!  Cool!.... but messy.

When the surgeon called us after the procedure, the first thing he said was not about the injury or how the surgery had gone. After introducing himself, the first thing he said was "Nathan is such a nice young man, so very kind and respectful. I really enjoyed meeting him."  Then he told us the surgery went well and everything should be okay.

Obviously, we were anxiously waiting for that good news.  But it made me feel so good when this man I have never met praised our son.  At that moment, I just knew he was the smartest and most skilled surgeon in all of Jacksonville - maybe the whole world.

John 3:35 says, "the Father loves the Son..."  I get that!  And if it thrills me to hear someone praise my son - even in the midst of a crisis - imagine how much more it must thrill God to hear us praise His Son Jesus.

When I started out as a young pastor, one if my mentors said "Whatever else you do, always exalt Christ."  That's really great advice. Because, the Father loves the Son... and He loves anyone who also, honestly, loves The Son.

Join us this Sunday for worship – 9:00am and 10:30am
