Children

We take children's ministry seriously at Washington Heights! As part of the family of God, children are significant. At Washington Heights we desire to partner with parents by helping develop their children to moral and spiritual maturity.

Sunday School

Age-appropriate classes are provided for preschool through 6th grade children Sunday mornings at 9:00 am (during the 1st Celebration Service). Class time includes Bible instruction, songs, games, Bible memory, and discovering how God's Word relates to a child's everyday life. Children are encouraged to be participants in the learning process, not just be spectators.

Awana

In Awana clubs, trained leaders guide children through age-appropriate material where they learn that God is real, He loves them, and He has expressed that love through Jesus Christ.

Held Wednesday evenings from Sept. to May from 6:55 to 8:30 pm, Awana uses the Bible to teach children to honor God and others. Three segments provide start-to-finish adventure in every club meeting: Game Time, Handbook Time and Council Time. Awana is provided for ages 3 (by Sept. 1) through 6th grade.

Vacation Bible School

A fast-paced, fun-filled summer week of events aimed at introducing children to Jesus and developing their faith, Vacation Bible School is for children preschool age through children entering 6th grade. Vacation Bible School is held during the summer, usually the third week of June.

Music

Various youth choirs are offered throughout the year, including God's Kids Choir (1st-3rd graders), which sings at local nursing homes and adult services, and the Jr. Praise Team (1st-6th graders) which presents children's musical programs and special music for adult services.

Camp

Each summer, children ages 8-18 enjoy a week at an age-graded overnight camp. Registration for these June/July camps begins in February each year.
