"Tell of His glory among the nations, His
wonderful works among the people." -Psalm 96:3
It is the desire of God that the nations come to repentance and
believe in the work of Jesus Christ, God's son. Our mission is to
be an extension of God's heart to tell the nations about Jesus Christ.
Washington Heights is dedicated to reaching out to international
college students to share with them who Jesus Christ is through
the context of American culture.
The International Student Ministry seeks to effectively train others
how to reach out to the international college student both spiritually
and culturally. Opportunities include
Friendship Family
The goal is o be a friend to an international student. There is
no need to provide a place for the student to live., simply someone
to become their "American family. " A friendship family
contacts their student at least once a month and involves them in
an occasional family activity.
Short-term Host Family
Would have an international guest in their home for a short period
of time. These would not necessarily be students. Opportunities
are available with business professionals from Bosnia through the
University of Dayton and visiting students from Brazil and Japan
through Wright State University.
Fellowship Family
Would be available to attend functions held at the church and visit
with the students that come to the event. Several events will be
planned each year at the church.. A great way to be introduced to
the international student ministry.
(ESL) - English as a Second Language
Opportunities are available for those who would like to help the
international student learn English. There are many students that
want to learn conversational English. The Bible is used as a text
to help them learn English.
Prayer Partners
Those families who are working with students would greatly appreciate
having someone praying for them as they work with their student.
The international student ministry is nothing with out prayer.
